EXHIBITION-CONFERENCE EUCANET INTERNATIONAL
28 and September 29, 2011 was held the International Fair Conference: Challenges and opportunities of the Internationalization of Higher Education in the Caribbean in the Framework of the EUCANET Red, which UNAPEC is partner. The main objective of this Red is to develop management skills for internationalization and cooperation in Caribbean universities, so EUCANET has developed various training activities, and this time realized the last activity of the project, which led a space for reflection and dialogue about internationalization of higher education and the public policies necessary for its development in the country and the region. The same was done in the partner institutions of the Dominican Republic (UASD-UNAPEC) in the days:
• Day September 28th 2011
Main Theme: International Mobility, in Dr. Leonel Rodriguez Rib Auditorium, Principal campus, Dr. Nicholas Pichardo APEC University.
• Day September 29th 2011
Main theme: The Internationalization of Research in the Library "Pedro Mir", Campus of the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD).
Mr. Roberto Escarré, EUCANET Red Coordinator, who presented the achievements of the same, attended the event and Dr. Rafael Gonzalez, as Vice-Minister presented the internationalization initiatives of the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology, (Ministerio de Educacion Superior, Ciencia y Tecnologia MESCyT). Also presented to those present the “Software Move on” Mobility in the Caribbean.
Other activities include: A panel about the Internationalization of Higher Education: Presentation of experience about internationalization and cooperation activities, with emphasis on the international mobility of national institutions, such as: (Universidad Iberoamericana UNIBE), (Pontificie Universidad Catolica Madre & Maestra PUCMM), (Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo INTEC), (Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña UNPHU), (Universidad Central del Este UCE), (Universidad Catolica Nordestana UCNE), (Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo UASD), who in addition AIESC and host institutions exposed to these their international initiatives and national and international offerings.
In the afternoon Mr. Roberto Escarré of the University of Alicante, Spain offered a workshop on teacher mobility, student and administrative staff in institutions of higher education. The Speaker also attended it: Marisela Bonilla Technological Institute of Costa Rica, who belongs to the INCA Red. The event continued with a presentation panel on scholarship opportunities and cooperation by Francesa Hernandez from Franklin Center (Centro Franklin) and the specialist Daniel Abreu, a graduate from Erasmus Mundus Program (Programa Erasmus Mundus).
The final part of the program in UNAPEC corresponded to the presentation of the experiences of international students, that form part UNAPEC community, among whom were seven Haitian university students participating in the International Mobility Program Network EUCANET, concluding with an artistic presentation Musician Vocal Group “Hoguera” and Folk Group UNAPEC.
